"I was one of the guests at yesterday’s Chamber of Commerce event at HSBC on Broad Street.

Like everybody in that room, I found listening to your descriptions of your journey into The Americas absolutely inspiring and eye-opening, a triumph for common sense and honest endeavour by two very determined and level headed people.

Big Bear Records has enjoyed a relationship with The Blues in Chicago since 1973, touring Chicago Blues musician through UK and Europe and recording them for our label, the UK’s longest-established record company.

Last year I was contacted by a most impressive businessman from Carbondale, Southern Illinois. His name is Earl Pryor, the grandson of one of our most successful touring Bluesmen of the 1970s, Snooky Pryor. He is irrepressibly enthusiastic and a most industrious businessman, clearly at the heart of local business in Southern Illinois.

I talked to him today about hearing you both speak at yesterday’s event, and he was most interested.

You may well have mentioned it yesterday, but there was so much to take in that I may well have forgotten, but do you have a presence in Illinois or could it be an area in which you have an interest.

Earl is suggesting a blues music event, coinciding with what is clearly big news over there, the once-in-ten-years solar eclipse which apparently is spectacular in and around Carbondale. He suggests that a prominent presence of Flexeserve could be part of a sales drive – or whatever – and reinforce the Illinois-England link at an event which Big Bear Records organised the music.

Probably not what you might have expected to read in an email on a Tuesday afternoon in March."

With respect,

Jim Simpson
